I had the absolute pleasure of capturing this Sarah and Michael’s sunrise engagement session at Adler Planetarium and Ping Tom Memorial Park.. They were so in love, it made my job easy. It was such a treat to capture their joy and their true love for one another. It was also great to get to know them a bit better before their big day! I photographed Sarah’s sister engagement earlier in the summer so it was really great to get to know more of the family before I shoot both of their weddings.
When we arrived at the Adler Planetarium in Chicago at sunrise it was still dark out. There was just a faint glimmer of the sun waiting to peak out in the distance. Once the sun popped over the Lake Michigan horizon the light was soft and warm, giving everything a golden glow as we walked around taking pictures. Sunrise is the best time for this skyline view in our professional opinion. The light creates dimension on the city from the east and the sky is richly colored.
We then headed to Ping Tom Memorial Park in Chinatown to finish off their engagement session. I love shooting at Ping Tom Memorial Park because there is so much variety of photo locations. There is also an epic view of the Chicago skyline. We started off at the two murals. My favorite is the mural with blue flowers. We had a little dance session in front of the yellow mural and then headed to the red bridge for some more dreamy photos.
I hope you enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed creating them!
