Chicago’s rich history and vibrant charm make it an ideal backdrop for unique and unforgettable weddings. We had the pleasure of photographing Carolyn and Peter’s wedding at The Mae District in Chicago.
We started the day at The Blackstone Hotel, one of my favorite spots in Chicago. This historic gem in the heart of the city provided a stunning setting for pre-wedding photos. The hotel’s grand architecture and Chicago vibes offered fantastic natural light and picturesque backgrounds for capturing those special moments as Carolyn and Peter prepared for their big day.
The Mae District’s spacious, sunlit spaces set the stage for Carolyn and Peter’s first look. The venue’s abundant natural light and artistic decor, reminiscent of a Jackson Pollock painting, made this moment truly magical. It was a testament to Chicago’s artistry and uniqueness, resulting in some incredible photos.
The Palm Room at The Mae District was a perfect choice for Carolyn and Peter’s ceremony. This architectural marvel featured large windows along one wall and rows of skylights along the soaring 28-foot ceiling. The room’s natural light and spaciousness added a touch of enchantment to the ceremony.
The Palm Room’s character, with its restored herringbone flooring and pure white walls, created a pristine backdrop for the wedding. It was here that Carolyn and Peter exchanged their vows, surrounded by loved ones.
In the midst of this beautiful day, it’s important to note the incredible history of The Mae District. Located at 19 East 21st Street, this building has a century-old legacy. It once served as Al Capone’s hideout, complete with a shooting range and secret tunnels for Prohibition-era antics. Mae, Capone’s wife, was his muse and a source of inspiration.
Mae’s legacy, marked by loyalty and compassion, continues to inspire The Mae District today. The layers of history woven into this venue add depth to its character.
Beyond the venues and history, Carolyn and Peter’s wedding was a celebration of their love. Surrounded by friends and family, their day showcased the power of love and the vibrant city of Chicago.
As a Chicago wedding photographer, I couldn’t have asked for a more picturesque and heartwarming event to capture. Carolyn and Peter’s wedding at The Mae District will always be remembered as a day where love and history came together beautifully.
For those considering a Chicago wedding, The Mae District offers a unique blend of rich history and modern elegance, making it a top choice for creating lasting memories in this remarkable city.
