As a Chicago-based wedding photographer, my journey with Mary and Neil’s love story began unexpectedly, at a friend’s wedding. We sat together and instantly hit it off. I was thrilled when they asked me to capture their destination wedding at the Westin in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

REHEARSAL DINNER

Arriving a few days early from Chicago, I had the pleasure of covering their rehearsal dinner at the scenic Skull Creek restaurant. Rehearsal dinners are a favorite of mine as they offer a chance to connect with the couple and their loved ones before the big day. The pre-wedding henna ceremony added an extra layer of fun and cultural richness to the festivities.

GETTING READY

Surrounded by loved ones, Mary brimmed with anticipation and excitement as she prepared for her special day at the Westin Hilton Head. Setting up the first look outside the hotel, emotions ran high as tears of joy flowed freely, and love filled the air.

We then embarked on capturing couple portraits around the exquisite Westin property, with its picturesque trees providing a stunning backdrop. Our next stop was the beach, where we captured some breathtaking shots against the backdrop of the ocean.

CEREMONY

The ceremony itself was a truly magical affair, held outside on the patio overlooking the beach and surrounded by swaying palm trees. The Jewish ceremony was deeply emotional, with not a dry eye in the crowd as Mary and Neil exchanged vows.

After a lively cocktail hour, the DJ introduced the couple to an atmosphere buzzing with energy. They wasted no time in opening the dance floor and kicking off the festivities before dinner was served. Heartfelt speeches and a memorable first dance followed, setting the tone for the evening.

GOLDEN HOUR PORTRAITS

As the sun began to set, I seized the opportunity to steal Mary and Neil away for some epic sunset photos on the beach. Sunset photos are a must for any wedding album, as they capture the romance and magic of the day against a backdrop of stunning natural beauty.

Returning to the reception, I found the dance floor alive with joy and celebration as guests danced the night away.
