Venue West Wedding: Sunghee & Ben

As a Chicago wedding photographer, I have the privilege of capturing so many unique and beautiful celebrations, and Sunghee and Ben’s Venue West wedding was nothing short of unforgettable. Their day was the perfect blend of elegance, tradition, and urban charm.

The day began early at the JW Marriott, where I met Sunghee at 8:30 in the morning. The excitement in the air was undeniable as she got ready surrounded by her closest friends and family. Her mom lovingly helped her into her dress, which was such a sweet and emotional moment. Meanwhile, Ben was getting ready at a nearby hotel, preparing for the big day. The couple had decided to skip a first look, opting instead to see each other for the first time down the aisle.

Holy Name Cathedral Ceremony

The ceremony took place at Holy Name Cathedral, one of the most beautiful churches in Chicago. Its grand architecture added to the elegance of the day. When Sunghee walked down the aisle, the look in Ben’s eyes was absolutely magical. It was a moment I’ll never forget. After the ceremony, we stepped outside to the church’s courtyard for family photos. Even their adorable dog made an appearance, adding a fun and personal touch.

Next, we headed to Milton Lee Olive Park for couple portraits. Although it was a windy day, the stunning view of the Chicago skyline made it all worthwhile. Sunghee and Ben braved the gusts with grace, and the results were breathtaking.

Venue West Wedding

The reception was held at Venue West, a fantastic space with endless possibilities for customization. Sunghee and Ben transformed it into a truly magical setting with stunning decor that reflected their style. During the cocktail hour, the couple incorporated a traditional Korean paebaek ceremony, where they honored their families and received blessings for their future together. It was beautiful to witness this meaningful tradition amidst the modern, urban backdrop.

The evening continued with heartfelt speeches, delicious food, and dancing that lasted late into the night. It was a celebration filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
