Dreaming of a spring wedding in Chicago? The Ivy Room wedding venue is the perfect blend of elegance, greenery, and city charm. Nikki and John’s day there was everything a couple could hope for. I loved being the one to capture it.

Getting ready at Viceroy Chicago hotel

Nikki and John described their wedding as classic, botanical, and upbeat, and every detail lived up to that vision. Their late-May wedding was blessed with a beautiful spring day that made Chicago shine at its very best. The morning started at the Viceroy Chicago hotel, where they each got ready separately before sharing an emotional first look. They had told me ahead of time, “We’re most excited about dressing up and looking our best for each other, and seeing the smiles on our faces when we finally lock eyes. We’re not always the most vocal about our love, so having this space to share intimate, meaningful moments together feels really special.” Watching that moment unfold was unforgettable.

After their first look, we headed to Milton Lee Olive Park for portraits. The skyline is their favorite out of all the cities they have lived in, so it was the perfect setting for them. From there, we made our way to their venue, The Ivy Room, which is always one of my favorite spaces to photograph. Between the ivy wall, the fire escape stairs, and the intimate courtyard, there are endless spots that make each wedding gallery uniquely personal. I love when couples take time for portraits at their venue because it adds a layer of meaning and makes the images truly theirs.

Their ceremony took place outside in front of the ivy wall, with their corgi, Panko, proudly carrying the rings down the aisle. It was such a joyful, heartfelt moment that set the tone for the entire evening. The reception was filled with laughter, incredible energy on the dance floor. It all ended with a magical sparkler exit.

Capturing Nikki and John’s The Ivy Room wedding was such an honor. Every detail, from their first look to their sparkler send-off, reflected the love they share and the joy of having their friends, family, and furbaby all together in one place. Congrats to Nikki and John on such a beautiful start to their journey as husband and wife.
