This Grand Ballroom at Joliet Union Station wedding was such a special one for me, especially because it was my first time photographing at this incredible venue. I had seen photos before, but experiencing it in person is completely different. The architecture is stunning. From the soaring ceilings to the grand staircases and historic details, it truly feels unique and full of character. It has that timeless elegance that photographs beautifully in every corner.
Caroline and Ted chose to skip getting ready photos, so I started coverage right at their first look. We met out on the balcony, which quickly became my favorite spot of the day. We ended up taking the majority of their portraits there because the light and architecture were just too good. The lines of the building, the open air, and the texture of the space created such a perfect backdrop.
Ted wore a classic black suit that felt sharp and timeless. Caroline wore the most beautiful sparkly dress with a cape, and I was completely obsessed. It was modern, dramatic, and so fun to photograph. Their first look was honestly the cutest. When Ted turned around, you could immediately feel how much they love each other. It was one of those moments that didn’t need direction. It just unfolded naturally.
The wedding party brought the best energy. After portraits, we moved into family formals so everything would be finished before the ceremony. That always helps the day flow smoothly and keeps everyone relaxed.
The ceremony space at their The Grand Ballroom at Joliet Union Station wedding was held on the first level and felt so moody and romantic. I loved how each person descended down the staircase. It made every entrance feel intentional and dramatic. Having their friend officiate made it even more meaningful and personal.
The reception during Caroline and Ted’s The Grand Ballroom at Joliet Union Station wedding was full of heartfelt speeches that had guests laughing and tearing up. Once the dance floor opened, it stayed packed all night. The energy never slowed down, and it was so fun to document.
Caroline and Ted, congratulations. Your wedding was beautiful, emotional, and such a joy to photograph. I am so grateful I got to capture your day.
