Jordan and Kevin’s Loft on Lake wedding was such a fun celebration from beginning to end. As a Chicago wedding photographer, I always love photographing weddings in this venue because of the beautiful light and relaxed atmosphere. Their wedding weekend happened to fall on the same weekend as the Chicago Marathon, so we planned the day carefully to avoid some of the busiest areas of the city.
The day started in the West Loop where everyone got ready together. Getting ready was honestly one of the most fun parts of the day. Kevin and Jordan were surrounded by an amazing group of friends and family who kept the energy high all morning. As a Chicago wedding photographer, you can always tell when a couple is deeply loved by the people around them, and that was so clear throughout the entire day. Everyone was excited, supportive, and ready to celebrate them.
Because of the marathon road closures, we decided to head to the South Loop for portraits instead of the more popular Chicago photo spots. It ended up being the perfect choice. The area gave us some really unique backdrops and a quieter environment to take photos. Sometimes adjusting plans leads to even better results, and this was definitely one of those times. As a Chicago wedding photographer, I’m always looking for locations that feel a little different, and the South Loop worked out beautifully.
After portraits, we made our way back for the Loft on Lake wedding ceremony. One of the most meaningful parts of the day was that Jordan’s sister officiated the ceremony. It added such a personal and emotional touch. You could feel how important that moment was for their entire family.
The celebration continued with a really fun and unique detail during the reception. Instead of one large cake, each table had its own cake. Guests loved it, and it made the reception feel even more interactive and memorable.
It was such a joy to document this Loft on Lake wedding. From the laughter while getting ready to the heartfelt ceremony and fun reception, the entire day was full of great moments. Being a Chicago wedding photographer means getting to witness days like this, and I’m always grateful to be a part of them. Congratulations to Jordan and Kevin.
