Independence Grove Wedding: Olivia & Cedrick

Olivia and Cedric’s Independence Grove wedding was one of those days that proves a little rain can’t stop a beautiful celebration. This Independence Grove wedding took place on a chilly, rainy fall day, but the weather only made the moments together feel even more special. As a Chicago wedding photographer, I’ve learned that sometimes the most memorable photos happen when couples simply embrace whatever the day brings.

I started the day at the venue, meeting Olivia as she finished getting ready at Independence Grove. One of the things I love about photographing at Independence Grove is how peaceful the setting feels. Surrounded by trees and nature in Libertyville, it offers a beautiful escape while still being close to the city. The venue has great indoor spaces for getting ready and ceremonies, which was especially helpful on a day like this when the weather was unpredictable.

First Look

Once Olivia was dressed, we stepped aside for a first look with her dad. It was easily one of the sweetest moments of the day. He was so excited to see her, and the emotion between them was really special to witness. Shortly after, it was time for the first look with Cedric. The two of them were all smiles the moment they saw each other, and you could feel the nerves melt away right away.

Their wedding party was made up mostly of family, which made the entire day feel very personal and relaxed. Everyone was clearly so excited to celebrate with them, and the energy was fun from the start.

The weather had been cold and rainy for most of the day, but we ended up getting incredibly lucky. The rain stopped for about thirty minutes, and we quickly took advantage of the break. As a Chicago wedding photographer, those moments where everything lines up are always exciting. We headed outside and captured some epic portraits surrounded by vivid fall colors. The leaves were glowing, and the fresh air after the rain made the scenery even more beautiful.

The ceremony was held inside the venue, creating a warm and intimate atmosphere for everyone gathered there. It was heartfelt and meaningful, with lots of smiles and emotional moments as Olivia and Cedric officially became husband and wife.

The celebration continued into the reception, which was filled with heartfelt speeches and plenty of laughter. Their friends and family clearly adore them, and the room was full of great energy. At one point the dance floor even turned into a full dance off, which had everyone cheering and laughing. As a Chicago wedding photographer, moments like that are always so fun to document.

The night ended with a send off for the couple, the perfect way to close out such a joyful Independence Grove wedding.
