Chicago is a city of many names. The Windy City, the City of Big Shoulders, or even the Second City. But what it’s most commonly known as is Chicago—the city that has everything. From the river and its accompanying architecture, to the beaches and their incredible views, from the museums and their art collections to the iconic skyline—there’s no shortage of beautiful picturesque things to capture in photographs during an engagement session in Chicago. Sometimes It’s nice to get out of the hussle and bussle of the big city and Ravenswood is a great neighborhood for a winter engagement session. As a Chicago wedding photographer I love when my couple choose to have their engagement session in their favorite neighborhood.
One of our favorite places to shoot is the Chicago neighborhood Ravenswood: an area located on Chicago’s north side. I love this area because it has so much character: narrow alleyways, colorful mural walls and old brick buildings. There’s endless cool vintage shops, coffee houses and comic book explore.
When my couple Annalisa and Max told me they lived in Ravenswood I knew we had to start their engagement session in their neighborhood. Whenever my clients can’t pick an engagement location I always recommend their neighborhood. You don’t always need the iconic backdrops that Chicago can offer. Neighborhood sessions can be more intimate and relaxed. They are my absolute favorite. After exploring Ravenswood we drove to the waterfront to get some dreamy sunset photos on Lake Michigan. Even with the cold weather this Ravenswood winter engagement was a magical.
