Chicago is a beautiful city year-round, but there’s something extra special about it in the fall. The leaves change color, the air gets crisp, and the city takes on a cozy, romantic vibe. It’s the perfect time to get engaged, and it’s also the perfect time for a Lurie Garden engagement.
I recently had the pleasure of photographing an engagement session at Lurie Garden and Union Station for Tia and Tim. Lurie Garden is a stunning oasis in the heart of Chicago, with a variety of gardens, walking paths and epic chicago skyline. In the fall, the garden is ablaze with color, making it the perfect backdrop for engagement photos. It’s also one of my favorite locations to capture the Chicago skyline in wedding or engagement photos.
Chicago Union Station Engagement
During this Lurie Garden engagement session we also hit up the Chicago Union Station for some timeless editorial shots. With its soaring ceilings, grand arched windows, and marble floors, Union Station exudes an aura of elegance and romance that perfectly complements the couple’s engagement photos. The station’s intricate details, from the intricate carvings on the walls and picturesque pillars, Union Station provided endless photo opportunities that capture the couple’s love story against a backdrop of timeless beauty.
Tia and Tim were so fun to work with. They were relaxed and natural, and they clearly love each other very much. We had a great time exploring Lurie Garden and Union Station, and I’m so happy with the photos we got.

- Dress for the Occasion: Coordinate your outfits with the ambiance of the location. For Lurie Garden, opt for flowing dresses and natural tones, while Union Station calls for more formal attire.
- Plan Ahead: Submit your permit application at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled photo session. In some cases weeks ahead of time.
- Choose a location that has meaning to you. This could be your favorite park, restaurant, or a spot where you first met or fell in love.
