As a wedding photographer, every celebration I have the privilege to document holds a unique story of love and commitment. Recently, I had the pleasure of capturing Christine and Rui’s Northwestern University wedding. It was a beautiful union that took place in Evanston, Illinois, where their love story began.

GETTING READY

The day started with a buzz of excitement as I joined Rui and his groomsmen at the Hilton Orrington Evanston. The air was filled with anticipation as they put on the finishing touches and shared laughter and camaraderie. Meanwhile, I made my way to the girls’ room where Christine and her bridesmaids were getting ready. The energy was filled with excitement and joy for the day ahead.

Though Christine and Rui no longer resided in Illinois, their connection to Evanston remained strong, rooted in the place where they first met in the Northwestern University marching band. It was evident that they wanted to honor this significant chapter of their love story by exchanging vows where it all began.

ALICE MILLAR CHAPEL CEREMMONY

The ceremony took place at the stunning Alice Millar Chapel, a venue adorned with a breathtaking stained glass window backdrop. Christine’s father escorted her down the aisle, filling the air with charged emotion as she took each step towards her beloved. Their ceremony, officiated by a dear friend, was a heartfelt expression of their love and commitment.

After the “I dos,” we orchestrated a grand exit, setting the stage for the next chapter of their day. Crossing the street to Northwestern University, we captured timeless moments against the backdrop of fall colors. The campus provided an array of picturesque locations, each frame telling a story of love and celebration.

PECKISH PIG WEDDING RECEPTION

The festivities continued at Peckish Pig, where the reception unfolded under a tent with an open-air dance floor. Surrounded by family and friends, Christine and Rui danced the night away, celebrating the beginning of their journey as a married couple.

As I reflect on Christine and Rui’s wedding day, I am reminded of the power of love to transcend time and space. Their Northwestern University wedding was not just a celebration of their commitment to each other, but also a tribute to the place where their love story began.
